powered by DIHIWARE
Regions and (E)DIHs alliance for AI-at-the-Edge adoption by European Industry 5.0 Manufacturing SMEs
About Us
The AI REDGIO 5.0 project focuses on renovating and extending the alliance between Vanguard European regions and Digital Innovation Hubs, taking into account the outcomes of H2020 I4MS AI REGIO and implementing a competitive AI-at-the-Edge Digital Transformation of Industry 5.0 Manufacturing Small and Medium Enterprises.

01 Data Space and AI for
Manufacturing toolkit
AI REDGIO 5.0 has designed a Data Space that has evolved during the project to better accommodate Industry 5.0 principles. Through the extended, manufacturing-oriented underlying entity metadata schemas, and the enhanced access policies covering various aspects of data sharing within a manufacturing setting, the AI REDGIO 5.0 Data Space allows more flexible asset sharing and improved asset exploration. Furthermore, the conceptual architecture has been updated to reflect in a more accurate manner the conceptual components and flows within the AI-REDGIO 5.0 Data Space. Different AI artifacts developed during the project has been integrated with the Manufacturing Data Spaces, as well as the advancements based on the different experiments' needs, as a way to support the adoption and use of the developed solutions.
The AI REDGIO 5.0 Data Space is available in the project's GitHub account (https://github.com/AI-REDGIO-5-0/) as an open-source implementation. -
02 Didactic Factories network and TERESA
facilities
AI REDGIO 5.0 has consolidated a network of 33 Didactic Factories sharing a smart specialisation focus on Manufacturing. The networks span through a large number of European regions offering access to infrastructure and digital platforms in which to effectively test before investing in new AI driven technologies. As well, its members offer a range of Remote services which make it possible to operate Virtual Factories with Didactic Factories in other countries. Facilities in which to implement the innovative TERESA model are also available through the network. To view in detail the project Test before invest experiments, Virtual Factories, and TERESA experiments visit our project website dedicated section: https://www.airedgio5-0.eu/test-before-invest-experiments
The Didactic factory network is open to newcomers, as it will continue operating after AI REDGIO 5.0.
If you are interested in joining the Didactic Factory network contact Isidora Trucco (isidora.trucco@polimi.it) and Sara Manders (s.manders@brainportindustries.nl). -
03 SME-driven experimentations in Vanguard
regions
One of the key results and main resources from the AI REDGIO 5.0 project are its Pilot experiments, which are a real demonstration of adoption of AI-at-the-edge and impactful digitalization in European SMEs. During the project, 7 Pilots were successfully concluded, addressing different topics such as safer transport for agriculture, quality and waste management support in the food industry, and quality assurance for clothing production, to mention a few. Each experiment was led by an SME in collaboration with technical partners and regional stakeholders, targeting the deployment and validation of AI-at-the-Edge solutions in real manufacturing environments. The experiments addressed different industrial challenges and demonstrated the transformative potential of advanced digital technologies for European SMEs.
